Simon "Sguy" McKenzie

Simon “Sguy” McKenzie has built up 10 years of professional dance
experience as a Popper and Locker, and has firmly established himself
as not only a teacher and choreographer, but also as a mentor to
young aspiring dancers. Sguy takes a very friendly and creative
approach to teaching, to make sure that the student gets
the most of their session and enjoy what they are learning.

From the age of 6 Sguy attended independent Contemporary dance
classes in his local community. His inspiration to dance came from
watching Michael Jackson perform, Breakin The Movie and old film
classics such as Singing in the Rain and The Cotton Club.
Working for Sony records was Sguy’s turning point in his career,
as he got to work on many artist development programs, designing
and performing dance concepts for record company executives.
Sguy then went on to study Performing arts and Dance for 2 years
at Hammersmith and West London College, where he further developed
and honed his dancing skills, and technique. After this he began working
with unsigned musicians to help them work on any weak areas of the
performing abilities. He also made a cameo appearance in
Thomas Joules-Scott’s remake of George Michael’s ‘Careless Whisper’.
Sguy has also been actively teaching dance at schools and colleges,
teaching kids from as young as 5 up to 20 years of age. He Is currently
a qualified Fitness Instructor, which he uses to teach other dancers
how to look after their bodies, and also uses as part of his dance
teaching methods. He has been working with
Red Kettle Media (Marketing Company)
Project managing tasks associated with dance, and has also
performed on behalf of them for their clients.

Sguy’s aim is to make dance enjoyable and accessible to all, and he firmly
believes that anything you enjoy, is worth your attention, as life is for living.

Sguy says, “Let’s have Fun, Let’s laugh together, Let’s get Poppin and Lockin”.
